Sharing the tools we use to operate our websites etc. Most of these tools have free versions, which is what we currently use. Though we may upgrade to paid versions that offer more features as our business expands.

Domain Names : Godaddy

There are probably cheaper domain name providers out there, but we have used Godaddy for years.

We find them reliable, secure and well-priced. Their support is excellent. They also own Afternic and so if you want to list any of your domain names for sale, the process is very easy.

If you have many domain names, then it is good to take advantage of their Discount Club that gives you healthy discounts off their domain name annual renewal fees..

Hosting Company : Hostinger

We used Hostgator for many years but they put up their fees by around 70%. Also we started to have major issues with our websites getting hacked, when we were hosting there.

So we switched to Hostinger. What we like about them is :

  • We can host multiple websites with them under the same account for a low fee.
  • They have built in website protection including free SSL for each website.
  • Their portal is easy to use.
  • They offer free functions to speed up the loading of your website. 
  • They are much cheaper than Hostgator.
  • It is easy to transfer websites to them from previous hosting companies.
  • Their customer support team is very helpful and efficient.

Hosting Overseas Digital Bank : Payoneer & PayPal

We are not based in the US so to receive payments we have registered with PayPal and Payoneer. Both companies are able to deposit funds we collect with them into our local overseas bank account. 

For the book royalties we earn with Amazon, they pay to Payoneer as if it is a US bank.

Website Creation : WordPress and Associated Plugins

For website creation we use the following free tools, though you can also upgrade to their paid version for more features if you wish. Plugins are just uploaded from inside the WordPress Admin Portal (accessible from within Hostinger, if you are using them).

WordPress : For website creation. This is easy to install especially if you are hosting with Hostinger. Literally only takes 2-3 mins.

Elementor Plugin : Our preferred free website builder for WordPress. Though sometimes we also use Divi if we want some of their features.

UpdraftPlus Plugin : Hostinger offers daily backups, but we like to have four weeks of rating weekly backups as well and we use UpdraftPlus for that linked to our Google Drive, though it will link to many other online storage applications as well.
